Christian Patriotism?
Hmm... I've been wrestling with this one for a while now. I'm certainly not sure if I've come to a good decision on how I feel about the subject. I have seen a bit of both sides, and I'd say that erring on the side of caution, and that not jumping into the arms of a man made idea is pretty sound. I found a few other blogs on the subject you might be interested in. I really like the one author's idea that when in high school, he felt proud and as if his school were the greatest. Then he saw a greater picture and developed a more informed opinion. I'd tend to agree.

Quick Thought
Gotta make this quick, since I need to run to practice.
It's often been said that people should recognize what the church is about, more than they know what we're against. I've been approaching things from that perspective a bit more lately, since I'm not sure someone on the outside could tell what we're all about. I'd like to see the community know exactly that we are there for them, not to condemn, but to welcome with open arms. I just hope our voice can rise above all the other noise that is already out there...

Energy drinks for creativity?
Well, I figured I'd start up blogging again. The blog will be linked by the church website, so I figured it ought to have some fresh content.
Recently, I've been watching a lot of films. You have to call them films, otherwise you are just watching a bunch of movies and that is just a huge waste of time! But I've been watching many films that aren't just the latest mind-numbing explosion-fest, or slap-stick comedy, which are my two go to genres. I've been watching "classic" films, as in 12 Angry Men and Casablanca. Yeah, I've watched plenty of action and comedy as well, but I've been inspired by the art form of movies again. A good film can really tell a story. One that is not only emotionally or intellectually moving, but that is also visually moving. I really dig that. Getting all the senses involved in the affair. It makes for a good experience, not just a few hours of oohs and aahs or laughs.
Perhaps this inspiration has moved me to start creating more. I've been in a creative slump, not really producing much music, and certainly not much art. I feel renewed in the passion I've been created with, and it feel good. The kind of good that motivates us to rise above just getting by, which is what I've been struggling with for a while. Perhaps that's why this blog has been the furthest thing from my mind. Hopefully I'll some more thoughts to share in the months to come. Hopefully I'll remember to post them in between spurts of creativity.
